Dying Light: The Beast – A New Chapter in Survival Horror

Techland has officially announced Dying Light: The Beast, a standalone adventure in the acclaimed Dying Light series. Set to release in the summer of 2025, this game marks the return of the original protagonist, Kyle Crane, and introduces players to a fresh narrative set in a dynamic open world.

Unveiling the Story: Kyle Crane’s Return

Dying Light: The Beast is set between the events of the original Dying Light (2015) and Dying Light 2: Stay Human (2022). After being held captive and subjected to brutal experiments for over a decade, Kyle Crane escapes his captors and finds himself in Castor Woods, a new and treacherous environment. Driven by a desire for revenge, Crane embarks on a mission to hunt down those responsible for his suffering, only to uncover a deeper conspiracy that threatens humanity’s survival.

New and Recurring Characters

While Kyle Crane takes center stage, players can expect to encounter a mix of new faces and familiar characters from the Dying Light universe. The game introduces “The Baron,” a key antagonist behind the experiments on Crane, whose pursuit of the greater good leads to morally ambiguous decisions. Additionally, survivors in Castor Woods will play pivotal roles, each with unique backstories and motivations that enrich the narrative.

Gameplay Innovations and Enhancements

Dying Light: The Beast builds upon the core mechanics that fans love while introducing several notable enhancements:

  • Beast Mode: A new gameplay feature that allows players to harness the abilities resulting from Crane’s experiments, offering a temporary boost in strength and agility to overcome formidable foes.
  • Co-op Multiplayer: The game supports up to four-player co-op with shared progression, enabling friends to experience the story together seamlessly.
  • Dynamic Environment: Castor Woods presents a richly detailed open world with a dynamic day-night cycle, weather changes, and diverse biomes that influence gameplay and strategy.
  • Enhanced Parkour and Combat: Building upon the fluid movement and visceral combat of previous titles, The Beast introduces new parkour moves and an expanded arsenal of weapons to tackle both human and infected adversaries.

Tying into the Series: Continuity and Evolution

Dying Light: The Beast serves as a bridge between the first two games, shedding light on Kyle Crane’s fate and the events leading up to Dying Light 2. The game delves into the consequences of the experiments conducted on Crane, exploring themes of identity, humanity, and the ethical boundaries of scientific pursuit. By revisiting a beloved character and introducing innovative gameplay elements, Techland aims to deliver a fresh yet familiar experience that honors the series’ legacy.

New Dying Light Game Dropped! Kyle Crane Is BACK!?!

This is NOT a clickbait. I am shaking as I type this – this is absolutely crazy. A brand new Dying Light game by Techland, that features Kyle Crane?! The nostalgia HITS HARD!

The opening night at Gamescom has been nothing short of amazing. So many cool trailers and surprises – but our favorite so far has to obviously be the new Dying Light game titled “Dying Light: The Beast.”

What do we know about the game yet? Not much. This is however from the official announcement: “To show appreciation for the community who patiently waited for the DLC, Techland will be offering Dying Light: The Beast at no extra cost to all owners of the Dying Light 2 Stay Human Ultimate Edition, delivering a full standalone adventure instead of just a DLC.”

So… is it a glorified DLC, like Dying Light: The Following? At the moment the info is a little blurry. It does sound like DLC but it has its own Steam page as well… I think we will just have to wait and see.

On the official announcement FAQs, it clears things up a little!

Is this DLC2 to Dying Light 2 Stay Human?

It initially started during our work on DLC2, but a story leak made us rethink the narrative, the scope and the general approach. When we decided to make Kyle Crane the hero of Dying Light: The Beast, it gave us a powerful boost of inspiration. Like many of you, we really wanted to bring Kyle back to do justice to the hero of Harran. That’s how Dying Light: The Beast was born – a self contained zombie survival adventure offering a new setting, new set of gameplay features and new story, culminating in a standalone, 18+ hours adventure.

Whew. Let’s talk a little bit about the plot!

Kyle Crane, the iconic hero of Harran, has finally broken free after enduring years of captivity and brutal experiments. Now on the run, he finds himself in Castor Woods, a new and treacherous environment filled with danger at every turn. As Crane hunts down those who wronged him, he uncovers unsettling truths that suggest his mission might be about more than just vengeance.

Castor Woods, once a lively tourist spot, has become a haunting landscape with dwindling numbers of human survivors and an ever-growing horde of zombies. The area is marked by its natural landmarks, small villages, and industrial zones, offering a variety of challenges and opportunities for survival. Crane must rely on his parkour abilities to navigate this dangerous terrain or use an abandoned 4×4 vehicle to evade the horrors that lurk in the shadows, especially as night falls.

We at Gamers-Outlet.net are super excited for this to launch, as of now there is no release date but at least it’s gonna be available SOME DAY!
