So we’ve got some amazing games that we keep going back to at some point or the other even after we’ve completed it. The support of the devs and designers make it possible to resolve a lot of bugs and the patches make our experience as gamers, much MUCH smoother and easier!
Now some of our favs also have additional plots, storylines and modes added to them to keep the fanbase going and giving us something new to play – within the same game! This is what we will be discussing – the top new DLC releases of June 2024!
- Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Edition
First up we’ve got the much awaited Elden Ring expansion… released on June 21. It is a massive DLC expansion! Titled “Shadow of the Erdtree“, the first DLC for Elden Ring, introduces players to the Land of Shadow, a hidden and forsaken region governed by the Golden Order. Unlike the game’s typical chaos, one can find a serene village untouched by Messmer The Impaler’s devastation, filled with swaying trees, colorful flowers, and soothing music. This contrast highlights the DLC’s ability to surprise and subvert expectations, offering new gameplay twists and narrative revelations.
The Land of Shadow presents a unique challenge with its Shadow Realm blessings system, requiring players to adapt and overcome formidable adversaries. The enemy design and boss encounters are particularly noteworthy, demanding careful observation and strategy. Maintaining the refined combat of Elden Ring, the DLC enhances the experience with new weapons, spells, and items. The dense, diverse landscapes and rich narrative involving Miquella’s journey make Shadow of the Erdtree a must-play, showcasing From Software’s mastery in crafting immersive and dangerous worlds. So far it has mixed reviews, but still worth it.
2. Alan Wake 2: Night Springs
Night Springs, the first expansion for Alan Wake II, offers players a captivating journey through three unique episodes, spanning approximately two hours. The initial episode delves into a whimsical fantasy, providing a delightful contrast to the intense narrative of the main game. The subsequent episodes take a thrilling turn, hinting at the future developments within the Remedy-verse, leaving fans eager for what’s to come. This expansion not only enriches the Alan Wake II experience but also sets the stage for future adventures in the broader Remedy universe.
There are 3 episodes in total and its best you play it before we spoil it for you – it is breathtakingly amazing (and goofy as hell).
3. Destiny 2: The Final Shape
Destiny 2’s expansion, The Final Shape, delivers a character-driven story that elevates gameplay to new heights. The campaign thrusts players into the Pale Heart of the Traveler, where they must thwart the Witness, Destiny 2’s ultimate villain, from rewriting reality with its physics-defying powers. Bungie’s approach to this expansion reflects lessons learned from its strong seasonal stories, focusing on the humanity of characters rather than convoluted sci-fi concepts.
The campaign incorporates the best elements from years of Destiny 2 gameplay, especially on the challenging Legendary difficulty. It introduces mechanically intensive encounters, such as toxic air requiring protective buffs and enemies dropping runes that unlock doors based on previously seen symbols. The Pale Heart is a visually stunning and intriguing setting, enhancing exploration and battles. Dread enemies offer fresh, tactical challenges, while the prismatic subclass showcases Bungie’s recent improvements to abilities. Additionally, post-campaign missions and cooperative play provide some of the best moments in Destiny 2, ensuring The Final Shape is a standout expansion.
